About DMVCA

DMVCA is an independent, plain-English guide to the California DMVnot affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the California DMV or any government agency. It cannot process transactions or access anyone's DMV records. For official business, go to dmv.ca.gov.

What this is

Clear, sourced guides to California licenses, ID, REAL ID, vehicle registration, DMV office locations, fees, forms, and a free Class C knowledge-test question bank. The aim is to answer a DMV question faster and more clearly than the source material does — while sending you to that source for anything official.

How it's kept honest

Claims here are sourced to primary records only — dmv.ca.gov, the California Vehicle Code, the California MUTCD, and the Bureau of Automotive Repair — and cited on the page. Fees come from a single shared file guarded by a build check; specific numbers are verified before they're published; the site build runs 23 automated checks that fail on error; and every content page shows the date it was last verified. The full process is on the editorial standards and methodology pages.

Independent

DMVCA is an independent publication, not the DMV. Where the process has limits — for example, which checks run on every build versus before a merge — the editorial standards and methodology pages say so plainly.
